What do 13 career NFL receptions for a grand total of 172 yards get you in cyberspace?  Thanks to Yardbarker.com, it gets you your very own featured blog.

All of those hardcore Rams fans who have been sitting at home wondering when someone will finally give second year wide receiver Keenan Burton a forum to speak his mind can relax.

Yardbarker.com has added Burton to a star-studded lineup that already includes blogs from premier names like Vontae Davis, Buster Douglas, Frank Shamrock, Brendan Haywood and a host of other marginally successful professional athletes.

And while Burton’s status as an NFL wide receiver was enough to get Yardbarker to come calling, it apparently wasn’t enough to get their editors to double check what team he plays for…

Burton

At least they got the state right.

Finally, Keenan Burton has an outlet

Adam Archuleta

His name is Adam Archuleta, and he was once the Rams’ 20th overall selection in the 2001 NFL Draft.  During his tenure as a Ram, he held the team’s top position for “player whose jersey is worn by the most 21-35 year old white guys who think they’re tough” (currently occupied by Chris Long).

Ever wonder what he’s up to in the year 2009, besides sleeping with a Playboy Playmate?

Adam Archuleta, who the Redskins made the highest paid safety in NFL history back in ‘06, was selected by the still nameless Las Vegas franchise inlast night’s UFL draft. This means that Arch Deluxe (sigh) has the option to sign with Vegas and play in the UFL or continue being an unemployed former NFL player.

Remember this guy?

We’re actually in the process of compiling a list of the people in and around St. Louis sports that have jumped aboard the Twitter train.  Check back tomorrow for our evolving tallies.

Until then, feast your eyes on the Twitter page of Torry Holt.

torry-holt-twitter

All signs point to someone close to Torry setting up the account for him.  We’re not saying that #81 is technologically-challenged, but the fact that his “personal website” is a Wikipedia entry may provide some insight into his digital market knowledge.  Regardless, we’re guessing that Torry’s Twitter advocate couldn’t be reached for further administrative assistance because that background could use some updating.

Torry, if you’re reading, click on the “Settings” option…then “Design”…then “change background image”.

May we also suggest that you use this image.  Now carry on.

Torry Holt Needs to Update His Twitter Account

Author: Matt Sebek | Filed under: St. Louis Rams

Safe to say, most St. Louis Rams fans are going to miss #81 this season.   One thing we’re not going to miss is the second finger on his left hand – which is a few degree ticks away from being a perfect right angle.  Sickening.

Why didn’t we hear more about that thing when Torry was in St. Louis? Some people covering the Rams have complained that there’s been nothing of substance to talk about for the past three years since the team has been an utter mess. Goodness, the Post should have hired one beat writer to just cover Holt’s finger. Give it a blog. Daily photos. Whatever. The people need updates on that thing.

Please Put That Thing Away, Torry

srooge-mcduckLocal entrepreneur, Stan Kroenke (born in Columbia, MO), is now the majority owner of Arsenal Football Club.  Kroenke became Arsenal’s biggest shareholder by increasing his stake in the club to 28.3 percent on Friday, putting him in a stronger position to mount a takeover.  A mandatory offer for the remaining shares becomes immanent when a shareholder owns 30% of the team.

Two things:

1.) If Kroenke is so into soccer, why hasn’t he shown more interest in the effort to get an MLS team here in St. Louis?  Seems a bit strange.  Although, if you have the means to date (read:own) a new, sexy European supermodel…who could blame the guy for forgetting about that old high school girlfriend who can’te decide if she wants to live somewhere in Collinsville, IL or the St. Louis Soccer Park.

2.) Since Kroenke and his wife (Anne Walton) own roughly half of the planet, we often lose track of “what” he owns.  Here’s a summarized list:

  • Denver Nuggets (NBA), full owner
  • Colorado Avalanche (NHL), full owner
  • Colorado Crush (Arena Football), co-owner
  • Pepsi Center (stadium for aforementioned team), full owner
  • St. Louis Rams (NFL), co-owner
  • Arsenal Football Club (EPL), majority investor
  • Colorado Mammoth (National Lacrosse League), full owner
  • Colorado Rapids (MLS), full owner

The following pic is one example why I prefer Yahoo! Sports over the other mainstream outlets. Simplicity. Clean. Sleek. That’s my Yahoo!

Gotta love the understood notion that the Rams’ first two picks are going to be around for ten years.

Some say the Rams got a steal with the 35th overall selection of James Laurinaitis. We won’t know for a few years for sure, but the Rams have definitely enhanced the amount of pro wrestling references within the locker room. TELL EM ANIMAL!

Torry “Big Game” Holt made a few parting shots at the Rams organization as he makes his way down to sunny Jacksonville, Florida.

This from Jaguars.com

A lot of that stuff about my knee and not being effective was all false. You never saw me missing games. I think it came down to us not being that good. Everyone struggled.”

Oh, there’s more…

To be able to catch 64 passes in a disgruntled organization was actually pretty good. All this talk about my decline is false.”

That last statement is actually quite humorous when you think of the Rams 2008 montage.  Scott Linehan, Richie Incognito, Linehan, Jim Haslett, Linehan.  But, need we remind Torry Holt that he’s heading to an organization that was 5-11 last season and only averages 30.0 yards/game more than the Rams?

If you’re not following Stephen Jackson on Twitter, you’re missing out on some quality material.

Between big, bad #39 posting internet lingo like “lmao” and “LOL!!!” to posting pictures of his new Louie Vuitton shoes, it makes for good humor.
